Romancing Saga 3 - Recent Updates

This page is an Update Log that details the recent updates on the site.
It does not mention every little correction (the very last modification date is around the top in the left-handside column).

Hi everyone,
A quick word to sum up all recent updates, which have been mostly invisible but very time-consuming:

- Mainly, the whole site is now almost entirely bilingual SFC / Remaster, except in some tables (space/readability issues).
- I have completed and gone into further details for the Location section of the Items page.
- I have also rewrote the whole Buffs and Debuffs section (which was until now a quote I'd had to correct) and put the text data into more convenient tables.
- Most recently I played a CM partial run on the Remaster to get the tranlations for all F-techs, Fusion & Multi-Magic Spells to complete the Commander Mode section, and I am currently gathering enemy skills translations (partly for the existing Evade Techs / Wards and Boss sections, partly for a new Enemy Skills section). Step by step!

That's about it! Have a great summer!

Happy 2022 everyone!
Here are the most recent, most notable updates:
- Tech Damage Formulae and Spell Damage Formulae sections at last
- and while I was at it, the Tech Accuracy Formulae
- added a few merchandises (phone card, postcards)
- and a few corrections, mainly in the notes for the Monster & Tech pages.

That’s about it! Still more to come when I can.. Cheers!

2021, May 3 (with additions, May 26).

A quick word to introduce a brand new No-Spoiler Tips section!
and to list the most recent notable updates:
- Transliteration of all the names of the original Staff in the Info section.
- Added the official translation for Business Mini-game Groups and Companies.

That's mainly it. Cheers!

Time flies! Here are the recent additions, excluding typos and small changes:

- At last a new, in-depth Healing Section that I'd wanted to do for some time.
- A few more RS3-related goodies and products (BGM & Saga Events details)
- And some more work into SNES / Remaster bilinguality, like for the list of the techs that never trigger an enemy counter

Take care!

Plenty of updates this January. Here is the second bulk:

- New videos, RS3 music! Romancing Saga 3 Prologue & Romancing Saga 3 Windy Tale.
- Hence started a RS3 BGM / OST section.
- Added a few conflicting events (Bai Meiling / Yan Fan).
- More Switch Main Character Bug: Have 3 Fullbrights in your party!
- or 6 Mikhails!
- Lose your DK Axe (but why would you do that indeed?).
- And some various little additions and corrections, as usual.

Cheers!

Happy New Year!
Here are the recent site updates:

- A good crop of RS3’s background motifs, in a spiffin' New Section!
- A comparison of all Weapon Icons in Battle.
- Upped the whole album of Leonid MC’s journey!
- More Switch Main Character Bug to have three Sharls in your party.
- A convenient table for techs that cannot be sparked by a basic attack.
- More Remaster names here and there (mainly: Techs), very time-consuming.
It's not 1995/2019 bilingual yet (just warning the lazy people that complain behind other people's backs when they could simply help, really).
- A bunch of Tomomi character design art in the Resource section (scroll down).
- Translation of the manipulation to spark all techs 100% of the time (SFC only).
- Lots of small additions or corrections, that I didn't keep track of.
- And ofc Harid’s Hot Xmas!

Take care!

Hi everyone! A bit busy recently but here are some recent updates:

- New site banner! after I’d made one (several in fact) for the YT channel.
- Leonid MC playthrough! with several videos (mainly glitches).
- A Spell Damage Section and the proof why INT/MAG is the most important dmg factor for attack mages.
- And various corrections & additions: Ice Lake with Wood, Mikhail’s minigames tables, (de)recruiting during the Eastern Quests...

If you see anything amiss (or not, haha), just drop me a line ; )

Cheers!

Hi everyone! Here are the most recent updates:

- A Charming Section indeed.
- Ruling Loanne & Mass Combat: added the Remaster translations & added a few notes and strategies (in the Minigames section & in the Remaster section).
- Note about Business game & NG+ at the end of the Missions section.
- A small video to defeat Pyro Hydra with Counters.
- A longer video of Shonen MC & Leonid vs. the Destroyer (after a Switch MC Sara bug).
- another video with Leonid MC challenging Zweig Tournament (and more MC).

And a few details like adding the 10kG possible reward for Algernon in the Walkthrough and the Money Management section, a paragraph as to how to raise your chances to spark & master techs, further details to the Revive / 4 Magics trick, small additions here and there (like the fact that encounters are always normal in the Phantom Maze), and never-ending typo corrections, including a missing pathway in the Rotten Sea Ruins map (thanks for pointing this out, JG!).

Cheers!

Edit: And a new Video Index section.

2020, Aug 23.

I have been adding lots of stuff recently and plan to continue making some videos (it has grown on me). Anyway, here are the updates done in the past few days:

- Video: A beginner’s guide to open locations after the introductions
- Video: Abyss Alloces defeated by Counters only
- Video: the Full Destroyer's last Void form defeated by Water Column only
- A Mage Party section
- Data from the Romancing Saga 3 sample cartridge
And beside correcting neverending typos, I made a few minor additions, like:
- a few bg I had missed
- a glitch I hadn’t been able to reproduce so far (‘Hooded’)
...

That’s about it this time.
Take care everyone!

Added a number of things on the site these past few days: it's time for an update log!

- Completed my Shonen MC playthrough on SFC. Lots of interesting things, and added a full journey picture album at the end of the note section.
- A SFC Switch MC Bug & BGM section, because your town music changes when you use the Switch Main Character Bug and it's fun!
- A Note about the Ice Sword / Everfrost Blade, all important for solo playthroughs.
- A detailed explanation on how to get 3 of the Strongest Spells and 4 different Magics on one character, with the Remaster Reviver Bug.
- And I found a funny bug while playing around with the Switch MC Bug and the video is here.

That's about it? Take care everyone!

Hi everyone!

Katarina's no-magic solo journey is complete at last!

For the first time I recorded videos (of the most interesting battles: Yami, Yama, Lesser & Greater Oblivion). Of one glitch too. I may do more of them, idk! (Everything takes time and usually more than anticipated.)

Among the other additions & corrections, I had time to look at a few Bosses in detail, especially the three mentioned above.

Also added quite a bunch of stuff in the section dealing with the Remaster's Bugs, new & corrected.

I am also currently reworking the Minigames section, business & ruling.

One or two other things, but that's about it.
Stay safe and take care!

2020, July 27.

I hope everyone has been enjoying a nice warm summer!

I have been continuing various experiments (including the non-full party experiments and a Shonen playthrough, mentioned in earlier posts), started a Katarina no-magic solo playthrough on the Remaster, and roughly finished stuff I had postponed for too long (mainly Business game checks).

Here are the sections I have modified, added to or created recently:

- Eastern Quest (Yang Fan)
- Invisible status
- Katarina solo playthrough
- Characters Page: Conflicting Events, Katarina
- Business Game, especially the Note of the 3rd mission
- Remaster (Bugs & Differences, including exploits)

That's about it. If you see typos or mistakes, have questions or suggestions, just let me know!

Cheers!

A Stroll in the Archlord Tower

Recently, among other things, I have been trying all kinds of possible scenarii in the Archlord Tower and adding Notes about details in the Walkthrough. Here are a few additional pieces of info about this Divine Tower:

- You can take a break (exit the Tower) after killing the Red Dragon; once you activate the first switch you have to move on and defeat Maximus to be able to get out again.

- A party of at least 2 is needed to activate the first switch (the Tower cannot be completed solo). If you are solo, just recruit Tiberius after defeating the Red Dragon. If you have a party of 2 you do not need to leave anyone to hold the 2nd switch. And if there aren’t enough members the traps simply do not activate.

- The number of turns before Maximus v.2 (with his guards) appears depends on the number of characters in your party (transformation after n+1 turns).

The main section is here.

Cheers!

The Greatsword Stealing Hands / Disarm tech allows you to steal specific enemies' weapon and retaliate with it. Some enemies have both their weapons listed as Catchable in the mined data, but in-game when Stealing Hands is successful it counters heavily and usually kills the target, making the 2nd weapon quite impossible to barehand-catch. There are some specificities: sometimes (CryptElder, Dobi) you need to Provoke-Shot the enemy to force it to use physical attacks so that you may steal its weapon; sometimes (Giant) when you steal one weapon the enemy will only use kungfu, making the 2nd impossible to steal; sometimes the enemy's weapon-breaking techs (Final Strike) can allow you to grab the remaining weapon; but sometimes it is plain impossible to steal either.

Find a special table with the full data list of the monsters' weapons that are marked as stealable in the Notes of the Monsters section.

Cheers!

Shonen MC

Beside non-full party playthroughs experiments, I have been experimenting a bit with the Switch Main Character Bug and decided to have a run with Shonen as main character.

Evidently, this can only happen with Sarah as the original MC. I particularly want to check what happens when reaching the Destroyer. Lots of fun in perspective.

To be continued. Cheers!

Zweig's Wall of Hell

The names of the members of the Zweig armored team appear to be all pretty random and absurd...

But they are in fact the names of the Wanders of the members of the USN Hell's Wall Squad in Squaresoft's SFC game Front Mission (1995), which was not officially translated at the time:

ダンデライオン Dandelion
ナッシング Nothing
ハッピーラング Happy Rang
ウィナー (Perfect) Winner
ストレイキャット Stray Cat
マッドブル Mad Bull

Heavy trivia, isn't it?

Herman+Black

The most recent stuff I stumbled upon (it must be known - everything is - but I had never read anything about it and I had not noticed it before): if you fight Forneus last with a party of 5 or fewer, you can have both Herman and Black in your party! Awesome.

I found this while doing playthroughs with not-full parties after noticing weird things happening with Maximus (which I still need to look into).

Contact me for details if needed! Cheers ; )
